Itinerary

Day 1 - Siem Reap - Angkor
You can arrive anytime at the hotel during the morning before the group meeting at noon followed by a welcome lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon, we will visit the complex of Angkor Wat, the largest and most impressive of all the temples. Its layout and its scale are simply breathtaking, the wall surrounding the enclosure measures 1,000 by 800 meters and the moat, said to represent the oceans of the world is 200 meters wide. This amazing temple homes the longest continuous bas relief in the world, which runs along the outer gallery walls. At the end of the day, an elephant ride will bring us to the hilltop temple of Phnom Bakheng, to meet the crowd for a truly memorable sunset (if weather permitting). Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 2 - Siem Reap - Angkor
After breakfast, we will go to a friendly local restaurant, where you will attend an initiation to the Khmer cuisine. Khmer cuisine is quite similar to the Thai cuisine but less spicy, with accents from Indian, and Chinese food. You will learn about the specific spices used in Khmer cuisine and choose your menu before joining the cook. At lunch, you will enjoy your own meals. Afternoon, we will visit the amazing temple of Ta Prohm, a monastery largely consumed by the jungle. Then we will go to visit the Tonle Sap Lake Exhibition located in the school for blind children directed by the NGO Krousar Thmey.

Day 3 - Siem Reap - Tonle Sap Lake
Today you will have to rise early for a full day boat tour – you will be discovering the wonders of the Tonle Sap Lake with the non-profitable association Osmose. This association has implemented a pilot conservation and development project in the Prek Toal area of the green era of Tonle Sap Lake, a critical site for the survival of several endangered species of water birds. You will cruise on the Lake to the village of Preak Toal and then go in search of the bird sanctuary in the flooded forest with the assistance of a specialist guide for this area. After lunch of cooked fish from the lake, you will visit some floating villages of the Tonle Sap and other points of interest such as the crocodile farm, a pagoda and observe some local fishing techniques. We will arrive in Siem Reap at about 6pm.

Day 4 - Siem Reap - Angkor
After breakfast, we will head out west of Siem Reap, toward Puok village. We will drive through the countryside and cross villages before we reach the Sangkheum Center for Children, an NGO which provides a home for orphaned, abused or neglected children, as well as a general education and selected vocational training. We will visit the centre of the children training in the workshops or farming. Then we will go for lunch at le Jardin des Délices (the Paul Dubrule Training Restaurant) where students of the Paul Dubrule School of Hotel and Tourism will gain valuable experience through serving you. Following lunch, we will join a guided tour of the school and its facilities, accompanied by a teacher or the director. Afternoon, we will explore the complex of Angkor Thom include South Gate, famous Bayon, a pyramid temple. We will also visit the Royal Enclosure, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 5 - Siem Reap - Angkor
This morning, we will drive 50 km north of town, through the countryside, to The Angkor Center for Conservation Biodiversity, at the Mount side of Kbal Spean. Then, we will visit Phnom Kbal Spean. After a 30 min walk in the forest, we will arrive at Sahasralina, the River of a Thousand Lingas. The remarkable 11th-century riverbed rock carvings display. After visit, we have lunch at Borey Sovann Kbal Spean, a nice restaurant set at the base of jungled mountains. After, we will drive to the magnificent Banteay Srei temple – the Citadel of women - decorated with superbly intricate reliefs of male and female divinities, carved on pink sandstone. On the way, we will stop at the Cambodian Landmine Museum and Rehabilitation Centre which promotes mine awareness and education to people. Then we will visit Banteay Samre. Not visited by many tourists, you should appreciate its peaceful atmosphere.

Day 6 - Siem Reap - Angkor
After breakfast, we will visit Handicap International, an NGO (non governmental organization) which provides a range of support activities to disabled people, many of whom are victims of leftover weapons. In the afternoon, we will visit some more temples of the Angkor complex. We will first stop at the temple of Prasat Kravan which contains some remarkable brick bas-reliefs. Then, we will visit Banteay Kdei and Srah Srang Royal Bath. Our last stop will be the pyramid temple of Pre Rup which offers a brilliant panoramic view of the surrounding countryside and is a popular spot to enjoy the sunset. Tonight we will enjoy our farewell dinner in front of a traditional dancing show at the Apsara Theatre. You will see a mixture of Classical and Theatrical Folk dances.

Day 7 - Siem Reap - Roluos
In the morning, we will drive about 15 km southeast of Siem Reap to the temples of the Roluos group, a collection of monuments representing the remains of Hariharalaya, the first major capital of the Angkor era Khmer Empire. Then, we will drive back to Siem Reap and visit Wat Bo, a temple founded in the 18th century. It is a large, highly respected pagoda. In this holy place, your guide will give you some information about Khmer Buddhism and religious observance.
No activities are planned in the afternoon. The tour concludes

The booking has to be paid at least 42 days before tour starts.
The single supplement is the price of one supplementary room for 13 nights (2 single rooms instead of one double/twin room). There is no single room available in homestay. Note that for every odd-number pax, one of the rooms is already a single room.
