Overview

Lung Khau is a small market very close to the border with China, close to Muong Khuong town. The Black Dao, Dzay, Tay, Flower H'mong (Red H'mong) minority peoples all attend this market. Lung Khau Nhin market is held every Thursday starting around 7.30am and closing in the early afternoon. The market is set in beautiful scenery and is very remote. It is a very ‘authentic’ market with few tourists visiting. The market mainly sells vegetables, seeds and livestock for the minority peoples...

Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Lao Cai (night train)

• - Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi at 7.00 pm.
• - Transfer to Hanoi train station.
• - Experience the romantic overnight train travel.

Day 2: Lao Cai - Lung Khau Nhin market on Thursday - Sapa (B, L)

• - Arrive at Lao Cai's train station at 6.00 am.
• - Take 1-hour car ride uphill to Sapa, have breakfast.
• - 2 hours drive to the Lung Khau Nhin market opening on Thursday by a van or car.
• - Visit a Flower H'mong village on the way back to Sapa.

Day 3: Sapa – Lao Chai – Ta Van – Lao Cai Station (B, L)

• - Walk 6 km down to Muong Hoa valley and visit Y Linh Ho village of the Black H’mong
• - Trek down 2 km to Lao Chai village, Ta Van village of the Giay minority people, have lunch at a local family.
• - Get back to Sapa by jeep or motorbike.
• - Transfer back to Lao Cai station in late afternoon, take the overnight train to Hanoi
• - Arrive in Hanoi at 5.30 am next day.
